Effects of July's Full Buck Moon on me
This was one of those weeks. From perfection in the form of a full set of coloured-in habit boxes to an accidental but still intentional tumble up a tall hill, from being offered my 2020 dream job out of the blue as my Housemanship application is at its furthest, to painful realisations as to why I struggle in maintaining healthy relationships, from binging podcasts by psychotherapist Esther Perel to finishing Think Like A Monk by Jay Shetty, from having deadlines breathe down my neck, to taking time off with family to forage for tropical fruits in a private orchard... I have relived childhood memories, toyed with alternate realities, and contemplated big decisions as I basked under the (full) moonlight.
I am not an astrology woohoo. I like routines a lot because they help to ground me. But without the four seasons, left with wet and dry, the New Moon and Full Moon are two distinct markers in the sky that probe me to measure the distance between where I am, and where I want to be.
Was it because it was the time of year that the antlers of the male deer are at their peak, or the perfect alignment of the moon with the sun and earth, causing the sun's light to shine fully on the side of the moon facing the earth? Either way, this Full Moon was nothing short of enchanting. My coach always has us 'let go' of anything that no longer serves us during the Full Moon, and here is my list:
- Ego.
- Expectations.
- Any variety of almond milk.
While I appreciate your presence, it is no longer necessary in my journey to live a more meaningful life (i.e. figure out what the bleep I am here to do, and how). I believe that I can be kinder, more balanced, and hydrated without you, and so I release you back into The Universe in hopes that you serve to teach another the profound lessons you have imparted on me.
I hope I have not lost all credence. There is something wonderfully weird about astrology that I cannot yet quite articulate (it is 1am). However, in another two weeks, another moon cycle will begin, and I will be sure to share my thoughts again here, in a more timely and eloquent fashion. Good night.
